I started pre-menopause @ 41 years old too, after an episode of 3 mos of nonstop menstruation and then developing anemia, i was put on birth control and after 1.5 years, my period is lite but normal. I believe it begun early due to cortisone injections. although the other 'male' doctors wouldnt accept that notion. But after receiving my last injection for tenditis in my elbow, my period again became irratic and non stop. So ,y female doctor prescribed the birth control for me, and it certainly has many benefits to it.
