pancreatic cancer

Message 10 of 11 Previous Next

My mother had pancreatic cancer 10 years ago and just celebrated her 10th yearanniversary of being cancer free. One doctor told her there was no hope, but we found another doctor and he did a Whipple procedure and chemo and radiation. However, my mom's was detected very early. The best chance for longterm survival is to have the Whipple or a pancreatectomy. Which is the complete removal of the pancreas. The person is then a diabetic. But, you can then take insulin. Anyway, I hope your aunt is getting some kind of treatment. One of the major risk factors in ddeveloping the disease is smoking. The earliest symptoms are a dark, rust-colored urine and extremely light stool. As soon as anyone ever has these symptoms, they should be checked for the illness. An MRI is the best way to find out. If you want to e-mail me to talk, please do so at anytime. Kathy
