Thank you for your messages. Emily has been close to a fusion a number of times, but then the doctors re-evaluated and decided that it wasn't necessary. It is all so complex. Now, I am afraid her neck looks like it has gotten worse over time, but it is so hard to say. I believe our next step is to take her to St. Louis to a doctor that our old specialist recommended (Em's first spine specialist now has Lou Gehrig's disease, and we have not been happy with the person we were passed onto within his group). I am mostly thankful that she has never had any pain from the curve, but it is hard, especially when I think about the future and what that might hold for her. I am always reminding myself to take it one day at a time.
