I have a member in my congregation who is in his 50's and has been diagnosed with DSM. His wife is finding it very difficult to cope with his bouts with depression. Is depression a common symton of this illness and if so, what sort of counselling can she provide him with to help him when he gets so severely depressed he lacks all motivation to go on living?
