My husband is on the heart transplant list at the Salt Lake City VA hospital. They have a GREAT team of transplant docs, and the surgery is actually done at the U of Utah hospital, which the VA contracts with. The only other VA hospital which does heart transplants is in Virginia near DC. They also do LVADs, a mechanical pump that allows the patient to last until transplant.
