My 6 yr.old daughter has had the same problem. 2 different docs. gave me 2 different explanations. 1 keeps givig her the same antibotic(amoxicillin) but about 3-5 days after drugs are done she gets strep again. This doc is her regular doc. The 2nd doc. was from last year, he did a sensitive test with the cultures. He then tried diffent drugs. Finally one helped. I told this to her regular doc. I even got the record to him from the other doc, but her regular doc say that 20% of the kids are strep carriers and that only when they get run down and their immune system is weak then they get sick..he also stated that penicillin is the answer. She just finished her meds over the weekend 3-18-00. I'm again waiting the 3-5 days to see if she will get strep again. I,m hoping she won't but I'm not all that sure she will be o.k. I'm am also lost and worried for my daughter.
