I had a total hip replacement done 17 years ago, the only problem I had was "surgical pain" and then some stifness and soreness, but the actual "hip pain" was gone and it was like a miracle! I was 28 at the time, so that may have had some bearing on my good experience. Your age and general health may have some bearing, ie if you have high blood pressure or cellulitis? Your surgeon may mean he doesn't feel it is related to your hip surgery, (and it may not be!) but ask him to consult with your primary care Dr. or interist, and see if between them they can come up with a solution.
