brachial plexus injury in an adult--surgical "accident"

Debbie

Message 20 of 23 Previous Next

I posted a new message on the forum, but have received no responses. Possibly thru this mode I will be able to contact some help. My son was in a motorcycle accident 4/00, they have diagnosed him with Brachial Plexus injury (Erb's Palsy). His MRI was okay, he has not yet had the EMG. We are getting different opinions as to whether he will regain his function or not. He can feel everything except a little numbness in his thumb and shoulder. He can raise his arm about 45 Degrees, he can move at his elbow, wrist and fingers. We have now spoke with a therapist that wonders if he has a rotator cuff injury. He suggests another MRI of the shoulder and arm. The Orthopaedica Dr. says not to do the nerve conduction until 6 wks. Any information on this matter is greatly appreciated.
