The supraglottic swallow is performed by taking a deep breath, hold the breath, swallow and then cough before taking another breath. If you take a breath before the cough, you risk aspirating any material that may be on the vocal folds. I cannot remember for sure,the Mendolsohn manuever, but I believe it is when you physically manipulate the laryngeal cartilage during the swallow. I will get back to you on that one.
