My first PSA in 1993 9.5. went on watchful waiting. Biopsy 6/94 showed no PC. On watchful waiting, checking PSA every 6 mos. PSA rose 1 point per year. In 6/1999 had another boipsy and PC was detected in 5 pct. of one core out of 14 taken. Stayed on watchful waiting for another year with biopsy 6/2000. At that time PC in 35 pct. of one core out of 14. PSA at that time 17.0. Decided to go with 3-D conformal radiation at Johns Hopkins. Had zolodex 2 mos. in advance. Radiation was 40 sessions, the last 15 with a very narrow beam on just the prostate. At the end PSA check showed 0.1. Four mos. later less than 0.1. Will have it checked again in Sept. I have not had serious effects. Occasional urgency in urination and bowel functions. RLR 05/29/01
