I was diagnosed with ITP after the birth of my son. I have been told that with future pregnancies my count would be closely monitored and to expect a rise in my platelet count during the first trimester but that a drop usually occurs sometime during the 2nd or 3rd trimester. If you are wanting to have an epidural during the birth it will depend on how high your count is as to whether you can have one or not. Birth is usually vaginally vs. c-section. Steriods and spleenectomy don't work for everyone. Make sure you have a good hematologist who can discuss all the options and risks with you. Good Luck!
