Lamictal could cause a type of meningitis says the FDA

I just read that the FDA says that Lamictal could cause a type of meningitis – aseptic meningitis. I am taking Lamictal for my Bipolar issues and this news is a worry to say the least.

Apparently if you stop taking Lamictal the symptoms of aseptic meningitis disappear but once they can come back in a more severe form, if you start taking Lamictal again.

I am going to ask my doctor for an alternative to Lamictal. Aseptic Meningitis is a side effect I do not need, my bipolar issues are enough to cope with. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
