Yes I have that problem and have to take antibotics in order to get rid of the sore throats which is getting harder to get Dr.s to give them these days and I can't just take 10 days worth it always takes me twenty if I get off in 10 I can count on a relaps. I was 40 when I had mine taken out and do not regret it at all. My tonsils filled up with food due to big holes in them so it was worth it. It took me a while to stop having a funny feeling in my throat. I felt that anything could gag me. But all is well now 5 years later with the exception of sore throats they are still there just not as often.
