I am a healthy 57 yr old woman who had her tonsils out at 4 yrs of age. 10 months ago I developed a peritonsillar abcess and had to have it surgically excised as well as some "left-over" tonsillar tissue. Of course I had all the pain, etc. that goes with it. Then just last week I developed another such abcess which I was removed a couple of days ago. My otolaryngologist just shakes his head in disbelief. This isn't supposed to be happening to me, but it is. Has anyone else out there had a similar experience? I could use some support. I'm afraid this could happen again. RC in NJ.
