gall bladder

Dear Vee, This sounds plain awful. Is your doctor brain dead? One thing to consider is the state of your pancrease. Inflammation of the gall bladder can easily influence the pancrase (been there, done that). But the problem is that it is very hard to visualize a pancrase with such cheap methods as ultrasound. Have you had an MRI of your trunk region? As to the symptoms, I use lomotil, reglen, and prevacid. It doesn't make life perfect (it never was and never will be), but I have gotten closer to "regular" than I've been in years. It sounds like you should have a blunt, heart-to-heart with your internist. At least you should have medication for pain, many of which have the added benefit of constipating you. You can even get duralgesic patches that release the pain reliever in a steady does for 3 days. Add a small supply of vicodin for spikes (and pain spikes are simply part of life) and you just might get past the worst aspects of your pain situation, if nothing else. Your physician, in fact, should ask you at each meeting to rate your pain on a 1-10 ranking. Does she/he do that? Last, have you had any of the standard blood work ups for pancreatic and liver conditions? You can be very surprised by what you will find (I know). Again, you need to confront your dr. or get one who will be more responsive.
