I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and have been on prednisone ever since. It is the only med that helps with the pain. My sed rate also was over 100. Average length of time for this disease is 2 1/2 years. My sed rate for the past few months has been as low as 1 and last time was 11 (normal). I am on 1 mg every other day and hopeful that by October I will finally be free. It just takes time and if you rush it your adrenal glands may not kick in and you could have a terrible flare and be on a high dosage again. Take it slowly and hope for the best. Good luck.
