I believe there is a blood test that can be done. Herpes is a virus that lives in your body. I can relate to your situation. I too received herpes from someone I loved and trusted. Currently though I have very few outbreaks and have learned to manage it through, diet,exercise,rest and medication when necessary. Realizing I am able to cope with this. I have a high stress job but I quickly realize when the stress has gotten to be too much and back down on those that are causing stress and are not necessary. You will be ok and you are still a great person.
