Wow. I had it about 6 months after the birth of my son. (about 35 years ago) For over a week, they didn't know what it was.. but muscle tissue was breaking down and exiting through the urine. It was to the point that I couldn't control the air through my nose when I talked (which was becoming more exhausting) so I had to hold my nose to talk. (I know it sounds strange) At any rate, Prednisone stopped it. I can't remember the dose, but I was given 9 pills every few days and gradually decreased them over a period of two years. There doesn't seem to be any of the side affects that I *hear* about with large doses of prednisone. Other than weight gain during the prednisone years, all seems to be normal. We raise and show horses. I can move 135 lb. bales of hay with the rest of them.. LOL (not bad for being 5'4") What sort of symptoms are you experiencing? What meds has your doctor been giving?
