Angela, The risks are always there with cancer. Your mother will have to have the cancer staged (it involves many tests) and then treatment will be decided. I discovered mine 3 years ago. I had radiation treatments and did not need surgery as my tumor disappeared. I wish you both the best and have patience with her as her emotions are on the surface at the moment.
