Diagnosing Ankylosing Spondilitis or Arthritis

Sandy

Please, is any one out there who can help me? For the past 30 years I have had this awful pain in my lower back, and the entire area of my tailbone. I was twenty years old, had surgery to repair a tipped uterus. They said that's what was causing my pain. I was a dancer and kept blaming myself for my pain because I would push myself to keep dancing even when I was tired. When I had children, I broke my tailbone each time. But...this awful pain never goes away and now that I am 52, I can't hardly stand for more than 15 minutes, let alone dance or exercise. I can't play golf, forget tennis...I can't even go for walks anymore. It feels like my bones are rubbing together. I have had X-Rays, MRI's and they show nothing, except a little problem with my L5!!! Little problem? the pain is getting so bad that I can't sleep. I have tried physical therapy and it gets worse...where do I go, what do I do to get a diagnosis? I do believe that this AS is my problem from everything that I have read. I have been tested for Arthritis and it tests high, but not out of range...It's funny because my fingers are so crooked and painful that I can't even play my piano any longer. How come nothing shows up for me to get help? I am now very depressed about this because I can't even keep up with my 86 year old aunt...who I might add, has never even had a back ache! I used to be so happy go lucky and push myself, so no one knew how much I was suffering, but I can't even do that anymore. Boy, do I feel old! Help, please!!!! Anyone! SOS!!!
