Hello, My name is Lisa and I have worked as a social worker for eight years working with children and adults. I absolutely think it is highly important to have your son tested. I think you are right in questioning whether the asthma medication is stimulating him more. I would start with your pediatrician and then move on to a psychologist perhaps in a counselling center that has a psychiatrist on staff who can prescribe any necessary medication. I would also look into occupational therapy to address any sensory needs he may have. They have wonderful ideas for calming your son and helping him to become more focused over time. He is very young and I can understand why you don't want to label him at this point. However, this child has an affect on the entire family system. There are support groups and in-home family counselors who can help your family as well as your child manage the issues related to ADHD. Don't be afraid to ask at the county you live in and school district for any support services they have to offer. Many agencies have early intervention programs that are proven to have an impact on the children before entering kindergarten. I hope this is helpful. Good luck to you. Sincerely, Lisa
