What causes heart palpations and can they be controlled? I had an ASD which was corrected by surgery almost 8 years ago. Never noticed the palpations until after the surgery. I've brought it up on numerous occasions to my cardiologist and other physicians, even wore a halter to monitor my heart beat. I was told it was fine and not to worry but it is a very uncomfortable feeling. The feeling is similar to loosing your stomach when riding in a car over hills but I feel that in my heart, like a fluttering feeling. I'd do anything to make it go away!!!!
