My Chiropractor taught me how to releave this problem. Although he does it most of the time, I can do it myself. If you will lay flat on your back in bed, take both hands and reach up under the middle of your rib cage (as though you are trying reach above your stomach) and pull down towards your feet or press hard with a downward pull on the upper part of your stomach, holding it tightly for a few moments, then letting go very easily, you will find a great deal of relief. When your stomach has spasams, it seems to knot up against your esphogus, causing restriction to the normal function. In essence: you are trying to pull the stomach down from the esphogus and straighten it out. Try it several times until you feel a release. It works for me everytime.
