I suffered from the exact same thing for years, but Prilosec has made a huge difference for me. I rarely have those episodes anymore, and when I do it is my own fault (eating something rich or greasy just before bed, etc). I have heard that Nexium is a stronger version of Prilosec ... maybe that would help you. When I occasionally still get it, I find that drinking milk coats my throat and esophagus and seems to soothe the burning. Try it ... it can't hurt!
