My Dad is 61 and has known that he has this blood disorder for about 2 years. He was going in for blood transfusions every month and recently he is up to once a week. The doctor is having him go into the Hutch in Seattle to get a bone marrow transplant at the beginning of the year. They tried a procedure on him last year and it didn't work. They say that he has a 60% chance of making it through the bone marrow transplant and after that he has a 95% chance of it taking and working. I hope that it works. His sister is going to be the bone marrow donor for him. I guess that you can't get much closer than family for a match.
