I have recently found out that I have a kidney stone. About 3 months ago I had one that caused blood in my urine. It passed to my bladder without the awful pain you always hear about. My doctor did a cystoscopy to remove the stone from my bladder because I never could pass it. 2 days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst pain in my life. I went to the emergency room, and was given pain med. & had CT scan which showed a stone in my ureter. Since then the pain is gone, but I feel like I have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes. They gave my a strainer to catch the stone when I pass it. I have heard that a stone will cause damage to your kidneys if you don't pass it within a week or two. Does anyone know if this is true?
