Hello, I have a 10 year old daughter that has had numerous health problems from open heart surgery at 6 months, hiatal hernias, eye surgery, kidney problems, etc. Since she was about 5 years old, she has displayed many of the characteristics that I have read about Fragile X. Things such as delayed speech, she repeats herself OVER and OVER and OVER (can ya tell this is my most frustrating part?) especially when she's upset, outrageous tempers, hates to be touched when she's confused or upset, cannot concentrate, sucks her thumb non-stop and in any situation. This is only the beginning. She's very smart, very likable in school. However, I have searched for years to find a reason for the above problems, and upon searching for something else, I found Fragile X. Can someone, anyone give me some first-hand information? Oh, she was also diagnosed severe ADHD at 6 years old as well. I am extremely frustrated and confused and don't know who to turn to. She's seen internists, psychologists, psychiatrists, you name it, and they all come up with different answers. No one has ever mentioned this Fragile X to me!! I have an extensive history of health problems myself, and it's still the first I've heard of it. I would love to talk to anyone who can give me first hand knowledge and experiences, PLEASE!! Once I can get more information, maybe I can approach this a little differently, and stop spending money on people who don't seem to really care that I'm not an over-protective, overly worried mother. I am so frustrated!! Thanks in advance!!!
