toe and leg cramps at night

David Pardo

Message 10 of 11 Previous Next

About thirteen years ago I would get leg cramps during sleep. Subsequently, I found out that this was due to breathing thru the mouth and, thus hyperventilating. Overbreathing caused other problems -- sleep apnea, snoring, dry mouth, hiccups, stuffy nose and many other problems, including high blood presure. I trained myself to hold the tip of the tongue against the upper teeth as I fell asleep. After a few days the tongue would remain in that position thrugh the night. In this position the tongue acts as a valve and reduces the flow of air when breathing the mouth. By reducing over breathing, I have esentially eliminated sleep apnea and snoring. Leg cramps, hiccups, stuffy nose have all disappeared. I still have the problem of high blood pressure, perhaps in time this, too, will be reduced. You are welcome to contact me for further information. David
