Hi, I also had an ovarian cyst, but I was diagnosed by my internist! I had just been to the GYN for my checkup, everything normal. I told him that my periods were very irregular, and at that point I was not having any for a few months,so he put me on some med to try and start my cycle. He said we would WATCH it for now. Well my back started hurting, no radiating pains down my legs, just pain in the small of my back. So he ran blood test for cancer and hormones, b/c i thought that I may have been going thru menopause, and he also had me have a vaginal ultrasound. Well, it came back that I had a ovarian cyst about 6cm. So I called my GYN and he said in two weeks have another one b/c sometime they go away. Well it didn't go away,and by the next ultrasound it had grown to about 8 cm and I also had thickening of the uterine lining, which was probably there before and they didn't catch it. Well I had to have a full hysterectomy, and by that time the TUMOR was 11cm in size. I had immediately relief. So my advice to you, have the hysterectomy if it comes up in discussion. Scarey when you GYN doesn't find it!
