My bros-in-law just went through this surgery. It worked incredibly well but be prepared, this is a big deal and takes quite a while to heal. Ask your Doc for details ie, how long before my throat heals, how long before I can eat, how long before I can COMFORTABLY go back to work. It was 6 weeks before he felt better and started to get around. He lost 50 pounds and was weak for quite a while. I don't think he was aware of how involved this surgery was but when I asked him if he would do it again, he said yes. Hope this helps a little.
