I am 29 years old and have had gout for the last five years on and off. This years has been my worst, especially the last 2 months. It started in my left foot than went into my right foot, there were times when both feet were hurting at the same time. My doctor put me on Allopurinol. What I wanted to know is how long does it take for this drug to work? I was told I will have to take this for the rest of my life. What are some common side effects.
