Hi, I have bunions too, but am 36. I recently went to my podiatrist and was told I need surgery on both feet. It is only recommended to do one at a time.In the coarse of our conversation, He told me his 16 year old daughter had bunions and she had them removed.So, you may want to ask the doc about the age thing and his reasoning for needing to be 21 or check with another doctor.I would definately see a Podiatrist. good luck
