I've had hammer toe surgery twice!!! I was hit by a car as a child and because of the nature of the injury, I developed hammer (or clawed) toes. The first time, the doctor did not leave the pins in long enough. Many years later, my toes began to bleed and went back to being clawed. I had surgery again in 2000. Today, they are much straighter, but I am unable to flex them because of it. Good Luck!!!
