I have had migraines now for the past 5 years or so. I have never seen aura or "bright lights" prior to the on set of the headache. Not all people see an aura. My migraine will start with a slight pounding on one or both temples. Excedrin Migraine medication works just fine if I take it before it becomes full blown. My 21 year-old son also suffers from severe migraines and swears by Excedrine migraine medication. The key is to take the medication at the onset of the pain.
