I had surgery on my right leg in 1997. I had a Large vein stripped that started at the top by my bikini line and was bulging behind the calf. It was done as an out patient. the recovery time was a few days, it was painful BUT I am so glad I had it done. I now wish I had done the other (left) leg too. It also made all of the spider (tiny blue and red) veins dissappear. I stand constantly at my job. I wore special Prescription stockings for at least a year after, you can get them in black opague and other colors. I'd say have the surgery, especially if you plan on continuing with the same type of work.
