Hypertension & Hawthorn

Hawthorn will not help. Celery (no more than 4 stalks per day) seems to help as does soluble fiber, like in psyllium, but not appreciably. If your blood pressure is consistantly 130/90 while resting, it's time to visit your doctor for medication. Potassium (from food sources), calcium and magnesium seem to help (slightly). I would get medication first if your doctor feels you need it, and then try things to lower your blood pressure. Keep in mind most herbs are not FDA approved. There are serious consequences to over supplementation. Once your blood pressure is under control then you can experiment. I have had hypertension for 5 years now, controlled with medication. Before he/she prescribes medication insist on a kidney and liver function test. At your leisure you can investigate: The Hallelujah diet The Dash diet and Dr. Schnitzer's cure. Probably all snake oil, but hey, worth a shot. P.S. The above work on diet modification and not herbal supplementation.
