Janel, I have no "medical" info for you but if it helps allay your fears, I am 37 and have a fairly dramatic curvature (but you can't tell by looking at me) and I have never had any back pain or problems related to it (that I know of). When I was a toddler, my pediatrician told my parents that my curve was very slight and would not progress but it did quite a bit so if I were you I would try another doctor.
