My son is 21 and is being tested for hemochromatosis. I don't know of anyone in my family or my husband's family that had liver disease. Can you be born with the disorder. My son was born with severe yellow jaudice. His billerubin count was high and he nearly died, but miraculously lived and has lived a "normal" life up until about five years ago when he started having abdominal pain. He just recently had his gallbladder removed. It contained multiple gallstones. His eyes have been yellow for several years. He complains of fatigue alot. I never considered him to be a bronze skincolor since his father has Indian in his family and tans easily. Linda please e-mail me as his father and I are very worried. Thank you.
