I have a herniated disc in my neck. I got hurt almost 11 months ago. I have had extensive therapy and 2 steroid injections in my neck. None of this has worked. I am scheduled for surgery March 6th. My particular surgery will involve a small incision in my neck, removing the bad disc and replacing it with a piece of bone from a cadaver along with a metal plate to keep it in place. From my understanding this surgery is not all that painful. So to answer your question I am having surgery because nothing else has worked and I want to get on with my life and have to give it a shot or be in pain all the time and on pain medications.
