I work in a neurology unit where we see laminectomy's (back surgery) all the time. I'm not a nurse, I'm a Patient Care Tech, but all of us tell our patients we know the pain is bad, but get up as soon as the doctor lets you, and move as much as possible. The pain won't be there forever! Believe it or not, the more you're up and moving, the quicker you'll heal!!!
