Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Message 24 of 63 Previous Next

I have fibromyalgia, also irritable bowel syndrome. When I am constipated, and bloated my Dr. gives me a liquid that can be used oral or rectal administration. It's called Enulose. Sounds gross, but for constipation it works for me with out the cramps. There are other meds. in pill form. Lotronex for diarrhea. I would research both medicines before asking your Doctor.I also use fibercon. As for as water, 8 glasses is good, diet, dairy products cause adbomonal distress. Try lactase milk, sugar and fat also can provoke symptoms, even fructose and artifical sweetner. Caffeine is not good. Use in small amounts, if you use them. Eat smaller meals, of whole grain breads and cereals, beans, fruits, and vegetables. Relax, cut stress, warm bath can relax the colon, run your bath as hot as is comfortable to you, add 2 hand fulls of epsom salts, or add 6 to 8 drops of essential oils. Lavender, lemon, peppermint(only one or two drops)don't want to be invigorating instead of relaxing. What ever kinds of oil used, 6 to 8 drops is plenty. One more thing.Peppermint oil is an antispasmodic and can calm the colon.Mix one drop of peppermint oil with a spoon full of honey in a large mug, and pour hot water over it and stir and drink. This is popular in Europe. Good Luck.....
