I have had two S.P. in the same lung. The first time they inserted the large chest tube and a smaller one on the second one. I experienced a lot of pain at the area where the tube was inserted. My doctor explained that the nerves were damaged by the insertion of the tube. Damaged nerves can take up to 18 mos to heal, but fortunately for me it only took 5 to 6 weeks. I just had my second S.P. Easter morning. They wanted to do the surgery, but I refused because I get deathly sick on any "under the counter" medication. Can you discribe the surgery and the after effects? Did they have to spread your ribs? Did they find the hole? How long were you on pain medication? What does your doctor believe the cause was? Do they want to restict any of your athletic activities? Sorry for asking so many questions!
