My 5 year old son started with a throat-clearing in the summer, and it subsided for a few months. I immediately was concerned that he may be getting tourettes, being that it is in my family. He recently started again only now with other tics, such as eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, head twitching, and other facial grimacing, etc. Just take notice if any other tics begin, than I feel you'll have your answer.
