Constipation in Rett Syndrome

Terry

Message 4 of 4 Previous

Hi, There is a prescription medicine called Lactulose. It is a liguid that can be taken with or without mixing in juice. It is VERY sweet. My daughter was on it for 2 yrears due to chronic constipation of unknown etiology. It is non-addictive and can be stopped at anytime. It takes approximately 24-48 hrs to reach intestines and may cause flatulence. Ask your Dr. about it. I take it now, (I'm a 36 yr old nurse), due to medication I'm on. After about 2 weeks of being on it, the side effects of gas, etc., go away. Good luck.
