I have familial pancreatites and have been in the hospital all of my life. I go to a doctor who is known all over the world as the leading pancreatic doctor and I have learned that it can be caused by a number of things... a diet high in fat, stress, alcohol, or it could be hereditary. My daughter also has it. There are times we are in the hospital every month sometimes every year. It can be frustrating. They can test the tripsogen gene to see if it's genetic, but most people get it through alcoholism.
