Lisa, I can't answer all of your questions but I may be able to answer some of your questions. First of all the antibodies that you were tested for can be caused by pregnancy. Antibodies are produced as a natural defense for foreign substances(virus' etc.). The antibodies which you were tested for are auto antibodies. They are produced when there is confusion over what is foreign. I know this sounds strange but this is the same thing that happens in other conditions as well(rheumatoid arthritis,lupus, etc.)These antibodies attack healthy tissue and destroys it. There is nothing you can do about it and there is nothing you can do to prevent or stop this from occuring. Do consider yourself lucky. You have found an endocrinologist who has treated you with cytomel. A lot of doctors don't use this as part of the treatment and some of us, myself included, are suffering because of it. Like you, I also developed hypothyroidism after Pregnancy. I continue to suffer because I can't find a dr. that will treat me with more syntroid and add cytomel to my regimen. I think that I am soon to be bald as a result of the hairloss and the fatigue has overcome my life. I am so envious of you. It's great that you have seen some relief in your symptoms. Not being treated correctly can be devastating to your overall health. Hypothyroidism that isn't treated properly can cause many conditions, some even life threating.
