Megaloblastic Anemia

Message 4 of 5 Previous Next

This type of anemia is not all that unusual. Was a Shilling Test part 1&2 done? B-12 is stored in the body in great amounts. This anemia is easily treated with B12 monthly injections and Folic acid tablets. While one should never say never, there are other changes in the blood cells that would accompany signs for leukemia. Leukemia is diagnosed with a bone marrow aspiration. I have had this anemia for 2 years and the shots and supplements keep it in check. I hope you are seeing a hepatologist or an internist and not just a regular general practioner.Get a copt of the Merk Manual. It is an inexpensive medical text and can answer many questions you have. God Bless
