elevated cardiolipin antibodies

Message 1 of 1

My mother was recently told she has elevated cardiolipin antibodies. Her personal physician has made an appointement with a specialist however she has admitted that she is not too familiar with this subject. Her appointement is 3 months away and I'm quite concerned as to what this means. I have browsed through the internet and still I am confused about this subject. Any information would be very helpful. My mother's family has a history of 'heart problems'. For example, two of her brothers have died of strokes (age 29 and 42) my mother's oldest brother had a very serious heart attack when he was in his early forties and her father (who also had lymphoma?) died in his fifties years ago. My mother has a high cholestoral level and is on medication for it, she also takes 1 aspirin a day and has taken hormone replacement med's as she had a hystorectomy years ago. My mother is 47 years old and moderately fit. Once again if anyone could demystify what 'elevated cardiolipin antibodies' mean and what this implies regarding my mother's health it would be very much appreciated! Thank-you, Paige Talledo
