I just had surgery 2 days ago for my ganglion cyst on the top of my wrist. I didnt want to go the surgical route either but after the orthopedic doctor aspirated it, it came back. I should have full use of my hand in 12 days. I wouldnt suggest busting it with a book just because of the locality, you could break your wrist. It is also very painful, as mine was on a nerve.
