I have those cramps periodically. I've been told that it is a charley horse, although that term most often refers to a muscle cramp in the thigh. Whatever it is, it hurts extremely bad. From what I understand, these toe cramps are caused by poor circulation, vitamin deficiencies, and/or wearing the wrong type of shoes. My dad suggested that I try drinking tomato juice. So if I begin having cramps frequently, I drink a can of tomato juice and the cramps disappear for several months. It tastes bad but it definitely works for me.
